"Batang Langoy" Episode of 'MMK' Builds Dream School in Masbate!

“Maalaala Mo Kaya” will present again this Saturday (June 29) the inspiring story of 11-year-old Rizza Abaño (played by Abby Bautista) and her brothers and schoolmates in Isla Mababoy in Masbate who were all so motivated to study even if they had to swim in an open sea just to get to school.

Almost a year after ABS-CBN shared the unique "journey" of the kids, who are now popularly known as "batang langoy," many people and organizations--including ABS-CBN--were touched and eventually inspired to help out.

Even before the show premiered the 'batang langoy' story, "MMK" had been actively coordinating with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya News and Current Affairs to extend assistance to the students in Isla Mababoy. The objective of "MMK" to build a nearby concrete and permanent school for the kids became an easy task through the united efforts of various groups in ABS-CBN including Lingkod Kapamilya, Sagip Kapamilya, and Pinoy Big Brother, all of which made efforts to raise funds for the project. A lot of other donors gave donations for the "dream school" until the total fund reached P1.2 million.

With enough help from everyone including the engineering department of the Philippine Army who constructed the additional classrooms, Mababoy Elementary School was finally built last March, in time for the opening of school year 2013-2014. Aside from the new school building, good-hearted donors provided the students with armchairs, books and school supplies.

The "batang langoy" episode also features Arjo Atayde, Lito Pimentel, Ana Capri, Makisig Morales, BJ Forbes, and Crispin Pineda. It was researched by Mae Rose Balanay, written by Mark Angos, and directed by Rechie Del Carmen.

Don't miss another inspiring TV masterpiece this Saturday in the longest running drama anthology of Asia, “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK), after “Wansapanataym” on ABS-CBN. (www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)
