After the successful TV series remake of "Maria La Del Barrio" in 2011, the Kapamilya network will remake another hit telenovela of Thalia. And this is "Maria Mercedez." And the role will be played by the young star Jessy Mendiola!
Yes, it's final and official - Jessy is our Pinay "Maria Mercedez." The said role was rumored before to give to Angel Locsin and Andi Eigenmann. Even Erich Gonzales was also considered for the said role. But now, it was announced that Jessy will play the said another exciting character of Thalia.
The two Kapamilya hunks Jake Cuenca and Jason Abalos will be Jessy's leading man. Jake will be Luis, the love interest and husband of Mercedez while Jason will be the macho suitor of Mercedez.
Now that "Maria Mercedez" is set to hit the Philippine television, all of Thalia's telenovelas have corresponding Pinay versions - "Marimar" portrayed by Marian Rivera in 2007, "Rosalinda" played by Carla Abellana in 2009, and "Maria La Del Barrio" played by Erich Gonzales in 2011.
